This is a way to make jambalaya from scratch using a slow cooker.

I decided to make a turkey and pork loin jambalaya.

The ingredients are:

  • 1 pound of pork tender loin
  • 1 pound of seasoned turkey
  • 2 pound bag of rice

My slow cooker is a four piece set which includes the cooker itself and three bowls, small, medium, and large. I used the large size.

What I did was put the turkey and pork loin in the bowl, and then I put the rice in. I also added enough water to be just above the top of the mixture.

You can add any seasoning or spices you like. I did not add any seasoning because the turkey was already heavily seasoned. This was a fried turkey left over from Thanksgiving which has been vaccum packed and frozen since then. The turkey was so heavily seasoned because it was purchased from a place that sells fried turkeys during the holiday season.

I started preparing this in the morning so I could have it ready for dinner that evening. I heated my slow cooker to warm so it could slowly cook. You may want to put it to low heat later on. You should also stir occassionally throughout the day.

You can use this method to make any flavor of jambalaya you want, whether it be sausage, chicken, or whatever. You can also add whatever seasoning you like.

This meal can feed an entire family as well as others.

Enjoy!
